What kind of other events do you have at Albacon?
Here is a description of some of the events we have had in past years. The events scheduled for 2004 may vary. As we get closer to the convention, this page will be updated with our actual planned events.
- Non-Banquet
- Also known as "Not the Banquet" or "The Non-Banquet Banquet". This is our get together on Thursday night for attendees and volunteers. We usually get pizza and soda. Everyone involved with the convention is invited. It also acts as a "Thank You" for the volunteers helping out on Thursday. We may set up the art show, dealers room, and other program areas as needed.
- Ice Cream Social
- This is usually Friday evening. It is a time to enjoy a cold snack and good conversation with our Guests of Honor, Program Participants, and all manner of other fans.
- Saturday Night Extravaganza
- This is a must see at Albacon. It includes our Masquerade Competition and activities related to our Guests of Honor.
- Masquerade Competition
- Though this started out small, recent Albacons have seen an increase in the popularity of this event. Come and show off that period outfit you've been working on! Try out that Halloween costume! Take the spotlight with your latest creation and join in the fun.
- Art Auction
- You've done it! You traversed the Art Show with the stealth of a ninja and layed your claim to those choice pieces from your favorite artist. It's 30 minutes until the Art Show closes and you make one more pass to make sure you have won the day. What's this? Someone dares to out bid you? Quickly you offer challenge to their threat with a higher bid. Then it's off to this voice auction to defend your honor and pride. Will the day still be yours? A great time for everyone whether or not you are bidding.
