FireFly Shindig

Join us at 9:45pm on Saturday for a Real Nice Shindig in the style of Joss Whedon's "Firefly". Join the aristocracy of the future in quadrilles and waltzes reminiscent of the ballrooms of Earth-That-Was, plus a few hearty country dances suitable for the wild frontier planets. Come as you are; fluffy pink dresses optional! Dances will be taught and called by Susan de Guardiola.

Independent Films

This year's ALBACON will feature independent genre films from filmmakers who live right here in the Capital Region. A mini film festival of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror films will screen on Friday night from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. The programming will include both short and feature films, and many of the filmmakers will answer questions and participate in discussions after the screenings. Look for a list of films and schedule of times soon.

Non-Banquet

This event is not confirmed yet. We have not finalized when art show set up will be.

Also known as "Not the Banquet" or "The Non-Banquet Banquet". This is our get together on Thursday night for attendees and volunteers. We usually get pizza and soda. Everyone involved with the convention is invited. It also acts as a "Thank You" for the volunteers helping out on Thursday. We may set up the art show, dealers room, and other program areas as needed. Note that this event is sometimes trumped by circumstance. Please check with the committee the week before Albacon to make sure it is still on.

Ice Cream Social (Friday Night)

A time to enjoy a cold snack and good conversation with our Guests of Honor, Program Participants, and all manner of other fen.

Saturday Night Banquet

This event is a unique experience to talk one on one with your favorite guest while enjoying a great meal! With a limited registration, this event is sure to fill up fast.

Menu: Sliced Roast Sirloin - Tender Slices of Roasted New York Sirloin of Beef cooked to perfection and topped with a Port Wine Demi Glaze.Chicken Marsala - Boneless Breast of Chicken sauteed in a Sweet Marsala Wine & Sliced Mushroom Sauce.Eggplant Rollatini - Breaded Eggplant stuffed with Ricotta Cheese and Basil, baked and topped with Marinara Sauce & Parmesan Cheese.

Cost is $34 per person, appetizer and dessert included.Seating is limited and there will be one ‘celebrity' per table.Email Banquet @ albacon . org with any questions.

Art Auction (Sunday)

You've done it! You traversed the Art Show with the stealth of a ninja and layed your claim to those choice pieces from your favorite artist. It's 30 minutes until the Art Show closes and you make one more pass to make sure you have won the day. What's this? Someone dares to out bid you? Quickly you offer challenge to their threat with a higher bid. Then it's off to this voice auction to defend your honor and pride. Will the day still be yours? A great time for everyone whether or not you are bidding.
