Hotel Information

Our Hotel is Completely Booked

If you still need a room for Albacon, try the Best Western of Lake George . It is within 2 miles of Albacon.

We have a new hotel!

As many of you have heard, our original hotel for Albacon 2003 is scheduled to close for renovations from early September until January. New owners are putting some much needed work into the facility, but that left us without a hotel. After a month and a half of frantic calls to any facility that we might be able to fit into, and serious negotions with two of them, we have secured a new hotel.

Albacon 2003 will be held at the Roaring Brook Resort and Conference Center

Roaring Brook is located about 50 miles north of Albany, NY, and about two miles from Lake George, NY. It is an easy drive up the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and the resort is about one mile from exit 21. Driving is the best way to get there, but there are two Amtrak stations a reasonable distance away (Fort Edward and Saratoga). There is also express bus service available from NYC to Lake George. Albacon is considering arranging for pick ups and drop offs at both of the train stations and the bus station in Lake George if needed. Once we talk to the bus companies we will post more information on this web site and in the Progress Report (scheduled to hit the mail before Torcon 3 over Labor Day Weekend). Take a look at their web site at http://www.roaringbrookranch.com/ for more information. Albacon will be using all of the Resort's facilities spaces.

Food

The Roaring Brook has a Coffee Shop and at least one Bar on property. The town of Lake Geore is about 2 miles up the road. See http://visitlakegeorge.com/z-home.htm (select DINING in the left hand navigation, then LAKE GEORGE as the community) for a list of local restaurants. There is actually more food closer by than we had in Schenectady.
